1st Bout of the Season
- Huge Success!
Texas
Rollergirls broke into their Third season to rave reviews
from the fans and the press. Check out what first timer,
Austinist, had to say in their article Rock'n'Rollerderby
Season Opener.
Final
Scores:
Hustlers 26 vs Honky
Tonk Heartbreakers 44
Hell Marys
24 vs. Hotrod
Honeys 54
In
first period action, the Hotrod Honeys brought Voodoo Doll
back from the dead, coffin and all, happy to have her back
after being out nearly all last season with an injury. The
swamp vixen introduced the new team members,
Rice Rocket, Rebellika
and ex-Hustler,
Eight Track. The addition of a couple tough blockers
and one hell of a jammer to the already strong team proved
to be just what they needed to show themselves a team to
be reckoned with in 2005. The Hell Marys just didn't quite
pray hard enough for this one, but don't foolishly count
them out. They didn't all get expelled for nothing...they're
still the toughest gals on the playground. At this game
they introduced their new skater, Bea
Attitude.
In
second period action, the 2004 Undefeated Season Champions,
Honky Tonk Heartbreakers took on second place Hustlers.
Heartbreakers put it to the Hustlers hard forcing them to
end the the 1st half with only 8 points to the Heartbreakers
24, but those disco divas came back strong in the 2nd half,
showing everyone the Hustlers we've all grown to know and
love over the last couple years. Just wasn't quite enough
for them to pull off a win over the Heartbreakers though.
Hustlers introduced their new skaters, Ellis
Dee, Smash
Hit and Curvette.
Honky Tonk Heartbreakers continue their undefeated streak
with no end in sight just yet, that is, and introduced their
new team members, Belle
Starr and Sic
Shooter.
Rumor has it that penalty princess, Hot Wheels, broke into
prison and stole an electric chair for this season, ready
to show all these gals that she's not foolin' around anymore,
play time is over!
Texas
Hearing and Service Dogs were in the house celebrating
another successful Texas Mighty Dog Walk. Nearly 2,000 dogs
passed the finish line on a beautiful Texas day, last Saturday.
Seems their Anti-Rain Dance did the trick. Texas Rollergirls'
own Hot Wheels, Julio E. Glasses and Chip Queso kept everyone
entertained on the mike and several Texas Rollerdogs crossed
the finish line doing their part to support such a great
organization.
On
the musical front,The Sweethearts got everyone in the Rock'n'Rollerderby
mood...and Cruiserweight kicked it into overdrive during
half-time. Get your April 24th tickets N-O-W
