AUSTIN,
TX September 27—After a month long break, the
Texas Rollergirls took to the rink for an anticipated
set of semifinal bouts. Winners would advance to the
finals and the losers would play for pride. The questions
of the day were; could anyone get in front of the Honky
Tonk Heartbreakers on their way to the finals? Did the
break help the Hotrod Honeys and their injury-plagued
team? Could the Hell Marys stop the Hustlers from having
a chance at defending their crown? All would be answered
over the course of the next few hours.
1ST
BOUT – HELL MARYS V. HUSTLERS
The month off proved to be good for rest but not for
rust, as the girls came out a bit rusty seemingly. Although
I’m sure the rust was more of a product of not
being in a match in almost 60 days. As they huffed and
puffed, the girls started getting rolling. Hot as usual,
Dinah-Mite got the scoring started for the Hustlers.
Looking stronger after the break, she shook off lots
of hits to finish out the scoring on this jam. Bunny
Rabid and Lady Stardust were doing a lot of clutching
and grabbing in an effort to get loose, which Lady ended
up doing. The Marys looked a bit fatigued early in the
match as the Hustlers looked pumped up for the bout.
Strawberry, not to be outshined, did some sweet skating
to get through the pack but the Hustlers were still
doing the scoring. Barbarella got some good blocks from
8-Track to spring through and with Dinah-Mite in the
pivot it was very difficult for the Marys to effectively
score. Electra Blu was fighting hard against Bunny Rabid
who seemed to have an upper hand in the jam, but then
with a whip from Dinah-Mite, Electra Blue shot around
the corner to put away the jam. Strawberry matched up
with Cheap Trixie and put a nice little spanking on
her, scoring just when the Marys needed her to. END

2ND
PERIOD
The Hell Marys needed some work right off the bat and
they got it from Misty Meaner who had been relatively
quiet in the 1st half. Devil Grrl had a large hand in
this with some nice work in the pivot and some hits
to spring her. Dinah-Mite was called for a push in the
back seconds into the jam and Bloody Mary took advantage,
scoring nicely with Dinah-Mite in the penalty box. Again,
it was Devil Grrl getting her troops fired up and the
Marys gained some serious MO. Dinah-Mite, looking to
squelch the momentum gained by the Marys, left a trail
of bodies in her wake as she split the pack on her way
to more points. Misty Meaner, with a little help from
Reyna Terror, busted through to score more points, keeping
this one closer than expected. Electra Blu had another
tough match up with Bloody Mary but wound up getting
the points in the end. The Crusher came through with
a huge hit on Cheap Trixie, but the Hustlers were doing
what they needed to do to get the lead shored up. But
a penalty was called and the Marys had life. It took
all they could give to get this close and it just was
not enough. The Hustlers made sure they had a chance
to defend their crown. FINAL SCORE HELL MARYS 40 HUSTLERS

2ND
BOUT HONKY TONK HEARTBREAKERS V. HOTROD HONEYS
Where the first bout started off a bit sluggish and
rusty, the Honky Tonks did not look rusty at all as
they came out firing on all cylinders. White Lightnin’
took down Sparkle Plenty right off the bat and this
one looked like it had the makings of a nasty bout.
Buckshot Betsy got things going for the Tonks as she
flew through a porous Hotrod defense. Slim Kickins was
looking to build on the lead but she cut the corner
and Speedy Marie took the points. The Honeys would need
all the breaks they could get at this point. Lucille
Brawl, taking a page out of Sedonya Face’s book,
got into it with Trouble right off the bat. This kept
the Tonks most deadly skater from scoring…a little
strategy if you will. Trouble doesn’t like being
unable to score, so she took the next jam and freaking
ripped it up. Her body lean on the corners is phenomenal
and she made quick work out of the jam. Loose Tooth
Lulu faced off with Cat Tastrophe and did a great job
of fending her off. Lulu got some quality points in
this jam. I forgot to mention that a certain Vendetta
von Dutch was back in action for the semi-finals. Well,
that must mean FIGHT!!! Bettie Rage was feeling the
pain from von Dutch as the fists began to fly. Sparkle
Plenty was sent to the box next jam, not sure why but
that enabled Cat to make a run for some points. But
Lulu and Slim Kickins were holding it down up front,
making it very difficult to score. The action in this
one was highly emotional as the tempers were flaring.
Dottie Karate was matched against Trouble to finish
the period in what was a total mismatch, allowing the
Tonks to score even more as the clock wound down. END

2ND
PERIOD
The Honky Tonk Heartbreakers came out ready to fire
it up in the 2nd period. If the Honeys need some help;
scoring would be the only way to fix it. Pixie put a
bead on Sparkle Plenty and looked as if she was about
to plow her into the crowd. Sparkle dodged a bullet
with a nice move. The Honkys were continuing to score,
which was not looking good for the Honeys. Barbie Crash
sent Buckshot flying with a huge whip, meanwhile Dottie
Karate went down with a shoulder, but she’d be
all right. Lulu was having a strong match, scoring big
points and making nice moves in the defensive end. Body
Massage!!! Tomcat gave Sparkle a rough and tumble smack
down. Slim Kickins was picking up the slack and having
a great night, she was ready to go to the finals. Trouble
is a fiery hot lady, not to mention she was scoring
at will and having a great time doing it. The Honeys
were just trying top stop the bleeding on a rough season.
Speedy Marie scored a moral victory by beating Buckshot
Betsy in a jam. I say moral victory because she was
holding her hands up in victory, but the scoreboard
showed a 30-point hill still needed climbing to reach
the Honky Tonks. Lucille Brawl got a nice whip from
Hydra to break fee, but this one was in the books and
the magical undefeated season for the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers
continued into the finals. How will it end? See you
October 24th. FINAL SCORE HONKY TONK HEARTBREAKERS 80
